In a recent article from Bustle, a journalist had written a piece that focused on criticizing cloud competitions by calling them pointless; furthermore, calling those taking-part in said competitions, idiotic.

Firstly, thinking of any activity as pointless is subjective, and just because one feels differently about a particular topic, it doesn’t give anyone the right to denounce others for doing what they enjoy. This journalist should maybe take a second to stop-and-think about her beloved hobbies, because I’m sure there are things she adores that others find pointless.

As for what cloud competitions are and represent, the art of cloud chasing requires a knowledge of intricate building techniques, which demand both time and skill to gain expertise. Some of the individuals taking-part in these competitions can be labeled as professional, simply due to their accomplishments in the area of building. Those who are deemed as professionals are far from idiots; they have knowledge in complex, electrical mechanisms that the average person could not even begin to understand.

We will respect the writer’s views on vaping, but the fact that she proceeded to call vapers idiotic, is simply unacceptable; and it is unethical for a journalist to act in such a manner.
