Vape shops were once tiny cubed stores where one would go to purchase their vaping essentials, and thats where the experience ended. But now, majority of these establishments are outfitted with leather sofas and fancy coffee tables, all of which is set in place to encourage the social setting that is typically found in coffeehouses. Vape shops adopting this same concept comes at no surprise as both offer an equivalent stimulant—caffeine and nicotine.

Despite all the negativity surrounded around nicotine, its effects and toxicity is no different than that of caffeine. These two substances both allow for the neurotransmitter dopamine to be released and also tend to increase focus. In fact, nicotine is actually known as a smart drug or nootropic because of the short-term positive effects it has on cognitive function. So believe it or not, nicotine in moderate dosages could possibly allow for an individual to perform at a higher intellectual level. This increased cognitive function can also be seen with caffeine and is the reason why coffee sparked drastic political improvements in our world.

When coffee and coffee houses were introduced in the late 1600’s it revolutionized nearly every aspect of life. Prior to the introduction of coffee, people were forced to consume alcohol-based beverages due to the water being heavily contaminated at the time. This transition to a stimulant-based beverage rather than a depressant has been thought to spark eras such as the Age of Enlightenment, by reason of the increased cognitive function people were experiencing. The establishments in which coffee was being served also offered benefits, as it housed a place for intellectual conversations to be held. These coffee shops were environments where individuals such as Benjamin Franklin, discussed political and scientific ideas that would bring drastic change to the world.

You may ask, why am I telling you this? Well, this is the first time since the introduction of coffee that a stimulant with mass availability has been able to be delivered in a clean and safe manner. Also, the rate in which vape shops are opening is starting to compare to that of coffee houses. This maybe a stretch, but this could possibly introduce are own Age of Enlightenment, and even possibly bring some great changes to our generation.

However, this is all heavily reliant on studies proving vaping has no serious or life-threatening effects. But we for one are confident that when a legitimate study is completed, vaping in moderation will be proven to be relatively safe.
